Baahubali 2: SS Rajamouli’s film beats Rajinikanth’s Kabali before release
Last year, the world was exposed to SS Rajamouli’s vision with the epic fantasy film Baahubali: The Beginning. Cutting to the present, Rajini hysteria gripped across the world and showed the invincible superstar that Rajinikanth is. While Kabali is smashing box office records, Baahubali 2 is all set to break the box office once again.
Speaking about the film’s business, producer Shobu Yarlagadda was quoted by the Firstpost as saying, “We were very impressed the way producer Kalaipuli Thanu marketed Rajinikanth’s Kabali. In fact we have already started the theatrical and other rights sales of the film.”
Notably, superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali had raked in Rs 200 crore in marketing and other revenues before its release.
Joining the box-office race, the makers have reportedly sold the theatrical rights of the sequel for a whopping amount. Although the makers are yet to finalise the rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which is likely to touch Rs 100 crore.
Also, it is said that the Hindi rights of the film might touch Rs 120 crore, making the sequel earn a whopping Rs 300 crore before its release. If reports are to go by, Baahubali is expected to make a whopping Rs 300 crore business before its release.
Rumours are rife that the overseas rights of Baahubali 2, has been sold for Rs 52 crore, which is huge for a south Indian film.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s Kabali is strom at the box office. The film is likely to gross Rs 600 crore worldwide. Kabali is expected to surpass the total collections of Baahubali in the coming days. Baahubali: The Conclusion will hit the screens on April 28, 2017.
